ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This washed Bolivian coffee is clean and balanced. With notes of caramel apple, dried fruits, and shortbread cookie, this offering is everything you could want from a South American washed coffee.

This month’s selection is the very first offering we’ve ever sourced from Bolivia, and we can’t wait to share it with our community of coffee nerds! We’ve been on the lookout for a Bolivian coffee for the last couple of years, and when we sampled this coffee, we knew it would be a perfect offering to share with those who’d never tried any Bolivian coffee before. This coffee comes from a cooperative in the La Paz region of Northwestern Bolivia, the Asociación de Productores de Café Ecológico Regional Leracaja, or, more commonly referred to by its much shorter acronym, APCERL. Founded in 2001, this cooperative has long since championed organic agriculture practices and conservation efforts, applying agroforestry principles to maintain ecological stability in its rainforests. Grown in the Andean highlands, this lot is a blend of Catimor, Caturra, and Cataui at an average elevation of 1350masl by a diverse community of smallholder farmers, all united by the APCERL Cooperative. For the fans of Peruvian washed coffees, this offering is an excellent foray into a familiar yet distinct flavor experience.

Other things that impact a coffee’s flavor include where the coffee is grown, how the fruit is processed, how the seed is dried, how well the coffee is sorted, how the coffee is roasted, and lastly how you brew it.
