Peru Chontali & Colasay Natural

Over the last couple of years, we’ve sampled more and more Peruvian coffees, and while we’ve found they often have flavor profiles similar to what we source from our family farms in El Salvador, we’ve found a few that have really surprised us. This month we’re featuring a superbly balanced Peruvian natural, grown in the highlands of the Chontali and Colasay regions of Northern Peru. The smallholders who produced this community lot are all located between 1800-1900 masl, growing Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai varieties, which flourish in the high elevations of the Northern Amazonas highlands. Despite the current situation in the specialty coffee industry, with surging prices and climate change’s effects on some of the most prominent coffee producing countries the world over, offerings from Peru have turned out to be some of the most consistent and excellent coffees we’ve been able to try out this year. We’re thrilled to be able to share this excellent lot with our community, as we continue to do our very best to bring on new and exciting coffees to the table. We have some very exciting news on this front as we gear up to release a fantastic roster of coffees over the coming months. So try out this coffee and stay tuned for some very exciting announcements from us in the very near future!

This Peruvian natural is balanced and flavorful, with notes of clover honey up front, and a refreshing guava fruitiness with a jammy texture.
