Every summer brings delivery of freshly harvested Kenyan coffees. Many of us wait all year in anticipation for this arrival, craving the unmistakable Kenyan flavor profile, which offers larger than life aromas of lush dark fruits, floral teas, exotic chocolates, and an array of spices.
Here at Topeca we are always suckers for the peaberry selections. Peaberry coffee are the fruits that only develop one seed instead of two. The result is a typically small, round seed that is densely packed with flavor, which would otherwise be split into two seeds. We like them for their concentrated "punchy" quality.
This lot is a collection of harvests from various smallholder members of the Rama Farmers Cooperative Society, which deliver cherry to the Muthingi-ini Factory in the central county of Kirinyaga.
In the cup you'll find jammy fruit flavors (think plum and black currant), with a big juicy acidity, heavy syrupy body, and a lasting aftertaste of chocolate, cola, and baking spices.
