The Ratnagiri estate, which translates in English to “Pearl Mountain\", is located in the Western Ghats mountains of the Bababudangiri region of Southern India. Helmed by Ashok Patre, a figurehead in the world of specialty coffee cultivation, this coffee farm is always searching for new ways to develop and improve its already intensive quality control procedure standards. Aside from innovation in cultivation and experimental processing methods, the Ratnagiri estate remains dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the rainforest habitat they share with the extremely biodiverse flora and fauna in their ecosystem. We had never tried a single estate Indian coffee until we had samples of a peaberry from the Ratnagiri estate over three years ago, and since then, we’ve seen their coffees proliferate into the American specialty market with great success.
