Our friends at Crop to Cup importer have done it again. For the past few years we've tasked them to find us the best peaberry lot Kenya has to offer. Often, it's off the beaten path were the true gems lie. This is certainly true for coffees grown in the lesser known Rift Valley. 

This lot was grown by a community of farmers belonging to the Akuisi FCS producer group in the town of Nakuru. Peaberry, is the term given to cherries that only produce one seed, instead of the typical two, and resembles a small round pea. What we love about peaberries are that they typically pack a punch. What would have gotten distributed amongst two seeds, get densely packed into one. Hello flavor country! 

In the cup your find lush fruit flavors, like red plum, currants, and brûléed grapefruit, with a dark toffee finish. This is for those who like big, bright, bold flavor.

We do recommend to consume pre-ground coffee within 2 weeks after opening to experience maximum freshness of flavor. 

Espresso (Fine) - best for home espresso machines, moka pot and some Aeropress recipes

Pour Over (Med-Fine) - best for single cup pour over methods with 2-3 min brew times: V60, Kalita, Malita, Clever, etc

Drip (Medium) - best for auto-drip makers and larger pour overs with 4-6 min brew times such as Chemex

French Press (Med-Coarse) - best for French press and cold brew methods.
