Haiti Savan Zombi
This variant is currently sold out
We've been working for many years with our friends at 1804 Coffee to make this a reality. Finally, 2020, in all it's craziness, is the year we imported a container of Haitian coffee. The first container of Haitian coffee to be imported into the U.S. since the early 20th century! In their hay-day, Haiti exported hundreds of containers of coffee a year. But due to a combination of economic, social, and environmental struggles over the last century, this number has dwindled to about 3 containers a year.
This coffee was grown by a cooperative of small farmers in the highlands of Savan Zombi between 1200 and 1400 meters. There in the rolling hills, coffee is grown organically like it has traditionally been for hundreds of years, borrowing many of their coffee traditions from their Ethiopian roots.
This lot in particular was a collaboration between many hard working individuals, who all seek to improve the quality of Haitian Coffee, to bring a viable and sustainable product to the Specialty market. this has been no easy task, and we feel very honered to be the ones who get roast this coffee.
In the cup, you'll find a lovely maclic acidity, like a crisp, sweet apple. Sweet almond and brown sugar flavors lend nicely to a creamy smooth body. A memorable coffee we hope to be able to continue sharing with you for more years to come.
